Nose:
Lemongrass, sugarcane reeds, beechwood sap and freshly cut grass. The nose of this dram very much reminds me of adventuring in nature during spring time as a child. There’s a bunch of fruity influences such as apple, pear, cherries and even some mango. But also grainy notes, such as freshly milled grist, hot porridge, and granola bars.
Palate:
Salmiak and acacia wood. Those are the two notes that immediately pop up in my head. But behind that I’m also finding apple syrup, sultanas, agave syrup and hints of freshly ground peppercorns. A bit of ginger and liquorice root provides some extra oomph to this palate.
Finish:
The Finish is long but unfortunately rather monotone. I’m getting tons of mint tea, but not all that much beyond that. Not an unpleasant note in anyway, but also not very exciting.
Verdict:
The nose is the absolute star of this Thy Single Malt. I could nose this all day and just dream away to whatever place the aroma’s take me. The palate is highly enjoyable as well, with an excellent balance of flavours. Considering that praise it may be forgiven that the finish can’t quite keep up.
